Like many couples, these two met at work. Darren, the IT specialist thought Suzanne was cute. Suzanne thought Darren was sent by management to install spyware on her computer to monitor her on-the-job internet browsing. Before long they became friends and eventually, they obviously developed a more-than-friends relationship.
Suzanne was a member of the National Canadian Women’s Bobsleigh team for seven years which has fueled a love-hate relationship with the winter season, inspiring herself and Darren to plan a winter wedding here in Banff. The entire day was cleverly fused with plenty of creative and thoughtful personal touches.
Coordination: Cherry Tree Occasions | Hair: Botega | Ceremony: St. Mary’s | Transportation: Highland Executive Chauffeur | Flowers: Lil’ Pink Daisy | Reception: Rimrock Hotel | Video: Aydin Productions | DJ: Class Act DJ | Ice Luge: Frozen Memories | Second Shooter: Peter
There seemed to be a bit of a running joke between Darren, his friends and coworkers throughout the planning process regarding his approach to the upcoming wedding. His best man gifted him with an appropriate custom t-shirt, Darren had a great sense of humor about the whole thing. [As a note, he was always a complete pleasure to deal with on my end, and likely the most organized groom I've ever met, to boot.]
This is a really neat tradition I’ve never seen: each single bridesmaid signs their name on the bottom of the bride’s shoes. Whichever signature has rubbed off the most and the end of the night will be the next to wed.
Suzanne’s beautiful antique Christian Dior fur belonged to her grandmother, purchased from Holt Renfew by her grandfather for his wife many, many moons ago.
Suzanne and Darren just love the art deco feel to the Rimrock Hotel.
Because of Suzanne’s athletic accomplishments, there had to be a bit of a tribute to her past at the wedding…what better way than a custom martini ice luge?!
This was the best wedding entrance I’ve ever experienced. Suzanne has a very intense admiration for marching bands, so intense that the couple hired the Calgary Stampede Showband to kick off the reception with a mashup of some of their favorite songs from Metallica to Michael Jackson. Everyone was SO surprised! Aydin was on-hand to catch the performance on video…take a peek.
Greg gave one of the most hilarious best man speeches I’ve heard in quite some time.
