ANNA+ALEX A WEDDING AT EMERALD LAKE.
27 Mar 2011Anna is from Canada. Alex is from Australia. Like any good love story, it all began because of a safari suit at a cowboy bar in Calgary during Stampede week. The young couple have since gallivanted all over the world and eventually set up a home in Sydney, Australia. In 2009, on a winter trip back to Canada, Alex proposed at Emerald Lake by writing the all-important question in the snow along the ski trail. It was then only fitting to use Emerald Lake Lodge as the gathering spot for their troupe of international friends and family - the snowy mountain resort was the perfect spot for this couple to marry. There truly were guests in attendance who had flown from each corner of the world. From my experience, travellers tend to attract other travellers, and this wedding was proof of a strong international community of close friends. Also from my experience, travellers know how to party. Again, this wedding was proof of that!
Anna and Alex put so much thought into all the details of their day. Considering they planned the event from the opposite corner of the world, everything came together so perfectly. I loved every single last detail of this thoughtful rustic wedding inspired by all things vintage and heirloom.

Anna is a graphic designer – she, of course, made some unique and quirky invites for the guests.

She wore her grandmother’s dress, her mum did the alterations from overseas…it fit perfectly.

Anna ordered custom shawls from Etsy for each of her girls.

Each of the female wedding party members picked out a dress in a similar color that suited them perfectly – more brides should consider this for their bridesmaids!

Anna ordered her fantastic hairpiece from Whichgoose.

The crocheted gloves belonged to Anna’s Oma.

Anna’s mum collected all the vintage milk vases for the centerpieces. It’s common knowledge that I have a soft spot for vintage glassware.

The night kicked off with a couple of national anthems.

I’ve never seen the mother of the bride party quite as well as Johanna did this evening!

Alex’s mum was a fun gal too…

THANKS.
27 Mar 2011I got a really thoughtful thank-you package in the mail today! You must remember Lauren and Neal’s February wedding…just oozing with impeccable details? Lauren took note of how smitten I was with everything she had planned…especially the Scrabble ring to commemorate her new surname. My new surname will also begin with a D…so she ordered me my very own from Rock n Rose!

PUBLISHED…ON PAPER!
24 Mar 2011Today when I checked the mailbox, instead of the typically boring bills and bank statements, I received my copy of Your Wedding…Imagine. One of my October weddings, Melissa & Brian’s small elopement at the Juniper in Banff is featured in this copy of the magazine. I have never before been published on paper so this is kind of a big thing for me. The entire magazine looks great and I’m so proud to have this wedding featured in the pages.
